Angela Joy is a seasoned actor with over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry. Known for their versatility and dedication to their craft, they have successfully portrayed a wide range of characters across theater, television, and comedy.
Early Beginnings:
From a young age, Angela Joy was drawn to the art of acting and worked tirelessly to pursue it. She began piano, violin and choir at just five years old and tap dancing at eight. By the age of twelve, she was already taking classes with adults. At nine years old, she landed her first theatre role and went on to write, star, produce and cast her own musical, "Rumpelstilskin," at eleven years old. With her mother composing the music and directing, they put on a local theatre production to raise money for charity. The show was a hit and received such an incredible response that they held another performance and raised over $1,000 for charity.
Breakthrough Moments:
Angela's breakthrough moment came when she was thirteen years old & selected to play Louisa Von Trapp in the community theater production of "The Sound of Music." Her impressive performance earned her an invitation to audition for their next play, where she was then cast as Anne Frank in "The Diary of Anne Frank." This opportunity opened doors for Angela, leading her to more prominent roles in the theater world.
Career Trajectory:
Angela relocated from Seattle to Los Angeles in 2011 to pursue her passion for acting. She enrolled in the renowned New York Film Academy and obtained her AFA Acting for Film Degree. Shortly after graduating, she appeared in several theater productions, including "Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Trouble in Chiozza," with the Classical Theatre Lab. Angela kicked off her television career by securing a role on Spike TV's "Tattoo Nightmares." In 2015, Angela discovered her passion and talent for comedy and became a member of the sketch comedy ensemble, "Hilarity Over Therapy." She quickly rose to the position of comedian, director, and writer, and the group went on to win several accolades, including the iOwest Sketch Cage Matches for 12 consecutive weeks. In 2016, Angela took her comedy career a step further by landing a role at The Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Company, an interactive comedy experience that is a combination of sketch, improv and stand up. Angela made a bold move in 2022 and ventured into Stand Up Comedy. She enrolled at Flappers University and quickly found her passion. Her talents have taken her to the world-renowned Comedy Store, as well as many other venues. Angela is currently producing her own show, "The Comedy Therapy Show," and has become a regular performer across Los Angeles. She hopes to perform nationwide soon.
Current Projects:
